Budweiser honors Kevin Harvick with championship tribute at Homestead-Miami Speedway

HOMESTEAD, Fla. (Oct. 22, 2023) – This Sunday, October 22, Kevin Harvick will be driving his iconic 2014 Sprint Cup Series championship winning scheme at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Those unfamiliar with the sport, or newer to the track may ask themselves, “What is the significance of the Budweiser car?”

Well, let me tell you.

2014 was Harvick’s first year with Stewart-Haas Racing following his exit from long-time team, Richard Childress Racing, after a 13-year tenure. The veteran came to SHR and quickly established himself as one of the fastest drivers on the track each week. His primary sponsors at the time were Mobil 1, Jimmy Johns, Hunt Brothers Pizza, Outback, and Budweiser, which is owned by Anheuser-Busch.

The Budweiser scheme holds a special place in the hearts of Kevin Harvick fans. This was the scheme he ran in the final race of the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series season. Harvick would go on to win and claim the 2014 NASCAR Cup Series championship, at Homestead Miami Speedway.

After the 2015 season, Anheuser-Busch decided to change their primary sponsor on the car to a different brand owned by the company, Busch. After replacing the Budweiser scheme, Kevin has had Busch and Busch Light Sponsorship, but has not Budweiser as a primary sponsor since the swap.

The announcement was a surprise to NASCAR fans across the sport.

Kevin racing his legendary Budweiser scheme, at the 4Ever 400 presented by Mobil 1, should bring a sense of nostalgia for those tuning in to watch as the NASCAR legend inches closer to retirement at the end of the 2023 season. This will be the first time that a track has named a race after a driver. SHR and Mobil 1 honoring Kevin like this will bring a tear to many long-time Harvick fans.

Whether you are a fan of his or not, this weekend’s race is definitely worth tuning in for. As for all of us at Left Turn Cult, we will all definitely be watching it with a Budweiser in our hand and a smile on our face.

Race day coverage begins this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on NBC.
