Martinsville, how important is this race for the drivers below the cutline?

After Christopher Bell’s win at Homestead this past Sunday, he locked himself into the Round of 4, and has a guaranteed ticket to compete for the championship in Phoenix alongside Kyle Larson.

The four drivers Below the cutline are Tyler Reddick, Martin Truex Jr, Denny Hamlin, and Chris Buescher. With only two drivers locked into the playoffs, It’s anyone’s game in Martinsville this weekend.

After last year, We saw Ross Chastain ride the wall all the way across the turn four past the checkered flag, securing himself a spot into the Round of Four. The drivers below the cutline know they need to get something done here in Martinsville to secure themselves a spot, while the two drivers in William Byron and Ryan Blaney need to qualify high, and stay out of trouble since they are above the cutline.

At Homestead last weekend, we saw tensions rising between drivers throughout the race. Chris Buescher did not have the race he expected and his car wasn’t up to par with everyone else. We saw the incident between Ryan Blaney and Kyle Larson going into the pits, which took Larson out of the race. We also saw the very intense Battle between Ryan Blaney, William Byron, and Denny Hamlin as the laps ticked down.

Going into Martinsville this weekend, it is sure to be a fight to the checkered flag. With this being the last race before the championship race in Phoenix, the drivers need their teams to be focused, and their car to be perfect.

Who will secure a spot into the championship round?
