South Carolina 400 Weekend Preview

This weekend November 17th and 18th Florence Motor Speedway will play host to one of the most prestigious Late Model Stock Car events in the southeast. The 2-day show will give race fans plenty of action to watch. Friday night is the just appetizer with feature races from the Bandoleros (20 laps), Legends (30 laps), Super Trucks (75 laps) and All Pro Limited’s (100 laps). Qualifying at 5:45pm with racing starting at 7pm. Saturday night is the main event, the 31st annual South Carolina 400, a 250-lap race with $12,000 to the winner. The star-studded entry list is headlined by Dale Earnhardt Jr, but he will have his hands full with the likes of Josh Berry, Brenden “Butterbean” Queen, Carson Kvapil, and Landon Huffman just to name a few.

Format

Action will pick up at 4:30pm when qualifying gets underway and will lock in the top 20 cars on speed, but there is a wrinkle to this. Back on Labor Day Weekend Sam Yarbrough won the pole for this event by picking up the win in the “Marty Ward Memorial 150”. After qualifying teams that haven’t locked themselves in on speed will take part in two 25 lap heat races that will transfer the top 6 from each heat into the 250-lap main event. In last year’s event we saw Queen and Kvapil door to door to settle it on a Green White Checkered, Queen was able to get the better of Kvapil and pick up the victory in 2022. Also this year we have seen both drivers battle tooth and nail in the Cars Tour, with Kvapil picking up the championship in that series. The rivalry will be renewed this Saturday at 6pm on Flo Racing.
