Every New Year, we as fans of sports and activities that bring us happiness and joy (or misery depending on the year), have a wish list we like to see happen in the upcoming year that would make us feel great about ourselves. Sometimes, it’s easy to call things you see coming based on the good or bad that’s presented, and other times, you are left baffled or angered by the opposite you felt should’ve happened.
So this year, as one of the Gamers Do Sports co-hosts, I figured I would attempt to give you what I feel is a Top 5 List of things that is on my Wishlist for 2024, so here we go.
(Disclaimer: This is a wishlist, I know not all five will hit, but, I am going to be rather happy if say the majority do happen in 2024)
1: NCAA Football Video Game Releases as Planned
This one is based on EA (Electronic Arts) actually sticking to the plan this time. We have had hiccups along the way, we’ve had delays, we’ve had lawsuits, and we’ve had hurtles small and big. I think we are finally getting what we want in 2024, a fully released version of the game me (and AJ from GDS) have anticipated for years now, don’t screw it up EA! Give us the game and all the options for a Dynasty Mode that can be played for a long time.
2: Detroit Lions Prepare for a Super Bowl Run…next season (2024)
I would love to say this season (2023), but, as I write this thing near the end of the year, they would need the defense to take a huge step forward in the playoff run. Maybe they do, and maybe this dream comes a year early, however, my heart of hearts believes 2023 is a home playoff W and bounced in the division round kinda feel to it. The off-season plan should be defense, and with a plan in place to address another set of weaknesses through the draft and free agency, that would make me believe it could be time to believe in something that no Lions fan utters with confidence, Super Bowl team.
3: The best year of Wrestling we’ve had in Decades
WWE is on fire lately, AEW has slipped (but I feel like they have nowhere to go but back up at this stage), NJPW is a great 3rd Option that also collabs with AEW, Impact Wrestling has some great wrestling matches (yes they’re still around in 2023 alive and kicking), and lastly, the indie wrestling scene is as good as we’ve had it in a long time. With everything being said, I can see this being the best full year of wrestling we’ve had since the attitude era, where multiple companies are doing great things, and the options are the best we’ve had in a long time. WWE had a strong 2023, can’t see how they don’t improve off of it in 2024 with the additions they’ve had. AEW didn’t have the strongest 2023, however, the in-ring action is great. I think they give us a strong story or two to get some people to tune back in like they did years back. I can see another collab from two brands to make a SuperShow or PPV that would be worth viewing. The options are there, the talent is there, the money seems to be there, this could be a fantastic 2024
4: First Time Champ/Long Title Drought Team will end in 2 of 4 Major Sports
Yes, I think we will see another year where teams that had a very long drought or never won a championship break through and win it all. It seems like the last decade in the major sports, we’ve seen more teams break through to finally give their fans something to cheer about after the misery (or if you’re the Vegas Golden Knights a few rough years only) before finally clinching that championship and memories that people will never forget. What teams? What Leagues? I will guess leagues since teams are such a tough call. NHL and MLB are my two Leagues I think in 2024 we will see new champions (second-straight year if that happens. Vegas Golden Knights in NHL, Texas Rangers in MLB)
5: The Toronto Maple Leafs WIN the Stanley Cup!
This is a wishlist…it’s not going to happen in 2024 lol, they’re just my favorite team in sports so I would lose it if it happens in my lifetime (40 years and counting)

- Ryan Day is fired from Ohio State
- Nick Saban retires from Alabama
- Lions win a Playoff Game
- Josh McDaniels returns as a head coach, in College Football
- Dodgers 1st Round Exit
- Patriots draft Jayden Daniels from LSU
Tristian:
- Dodgers win the World Series
- Dallas Stars win the Stanley Cup
- Dak Prescott finally gets the Cowboys over the hump in Playoffs
- GDS Takes off and becomes great
Josh:
- Cubs Improve in some capacity that would make fans feel confident about the future
- Bears Trade 1st Overall Pick in 2024 Draft for a Haul
- Blackhawks get Connor Bedard some help this off-season
- Bulls become competitive/relevant once again in the NBA
- Notre Dame joins a Conference to be respected once again instead of a joke they are
- Jim Harbaugh gets fired from Michigan and does not come to the Bears
